Fulani herdsman accused of being Boko Haram terrorist in Delta

A Fulani herdsman who was suspected of being a Boko Haram terrorist was beaten to stupor by seven thugs and a prostitute in Delta state.

Vanguard reports that the incident at a brothel known as Big Dafe which is located along the East-West Expressroad in Ughelli, Delta State in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday, January 4.

The herdsman simply identified as Usman paid one prostitute, Amaka the sum of N5000 to be with her for the night but as he was taking off his clothes, his dagger fell.

The sight of the dagger prompted the prostitute to assume he was a Boko Haram terrorist and she raised alarm.

An eyewitness who spoke on the condition of anonymity said: “While the man was taking off his clothing after paying the lady N5,000 at about 1:30a.m., his dagger fell out. On sighting his dagger, Amaka immediately raised alarm that he is a Boko Haram member, who wants to kill her.”

“Immediately the Aboki and the girl came out from the room, wife of the owner of the brothel ordered the thugs, who were playing a game of pool, to beat Usman and a male sympathiser, who was pleading on his behalf.”

A senior police officer at the Ughelli ‘A’ Division Police Station who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the incident.

He said the herdsman and the prostitute are in police custody as investigation is still on.

Meanwhile, A suspected Boko Haram terrorist who simply gave his name as Alkali was arrested by security operatives in the Ibadan area of Oyo state after he confessed that he fled Sambisa forest.

The stronghold of the terrorists was dislodged in December, 2016 by troops on Operation Lafiya Dole with many of the terrorists fleeing the forest.

Tribune Online reports that the suspect was apprehended on Sunday, January 1 in Alalubosa GRA of the Ibadan metropolis following a tip-off from residents.

A police source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the suspect was in detention at the state CID and confessed to being a key member of the sect.

He reportedly confessed to being in charge of the dangerous weapons at the disposal of the group, including grenades and dynamites.
